Much like the funds in your account, the context in this post is lacking

It’s sad to consider yourself lucky for only owing low 5 figures to go to an in-state university...

Would rather be in Iran where everyone, including the government, loves me unconditionally.

Yup. I am currently preparing my anus for my student loan payments.

I’m leaving my current university, which means exit counseling, which means thousands I have to pay off while I accumulate debt from my new college.

Nope I’m fucked anywhere in Europe due to me being English (not British, English specifically) and stupid EU regulations, which allows any University to charge the English rate for tuition fees regardless of the country.

Would rather owe $0, because education should be free.

Can your country adopt me? If I had that amount of loans I could live like this:

Let’s go to Mars then.

As a U.S. citizen he is still obliged to pay U.S. taxes if he earns over I believe 35,000 dollars or pounds not sure a year after he’s paid the taxes he’s obligated to pay in the country he resides.

Fees tripled for year following mine. My friend who unwisely took a gap year owes £54,000.

Red is my favourite colour and I heard they have good prices on rent.

You went to school and spent the money there was no guarantee of a job in your field of study. Nor is there really ever. Pay your debt and stop bitching, then start encouraging others to get a job before they go to college. College isn’t the issue the issue is everyone thinks its required.

Yes, many nations have free higher education
BUT, and this is a BIG BUT that does not lie
These schools aren’t accepting many new students. Getting in is not easy.

Yo Congress. If you want your damn money back, make sure there are jobs available for me.
Haha...Congress making jobs available....hahahaha
1. Not their job nor should it be.
2. They’re really bad at it when they try anyway.
However, there is one place they assuredly can make jobs...the military. Bet ya they’ll take you. They also provide loan forgiveness and percentage protections as well as other various student loan programs (and GI bill if you want to go back to school after or during service). Jus sayin.

Yeah, because getting my leg blown off by an IED is what I have to do in order to get affordable tuition. Fuck the government.

Actually, the trick is to do ROTC. Once you’re done, you become an officer instantly. Then your job is to send poor stupid schmucks to get their legs blown off by IEDs, you pull a fatter paycheck, and when you get out you’ll get a sweet high-paying job with a contractor (especially if you get a clearance). Not to mention them paying off your loans and top-notch free housing with those same soon-to-be-legless dudes maintaining your yard and house on their knees.
If I could only go back...

My dad was almost killed in Iraq
as a civilian
. I don’t want to end up in the same situation he was in.

Good. I’d rather fewer people get in than be forced into dozens of thousands of dollars in debt for an internship. The value of a degree isn’t what it used to be.

Ye’, but god help you when you get out. :) You’ll be tracked forever by Aunty and Uncle Sam.

Unfortunately, the gubmint is not supposed to be the job creators. They are supposed to be supporting the needs of the job creators with infrastructure and the needs of the people who elected said officials to the gubmint. And what is a “NEED” is very debatable.

He doesn’t have to pay if he is okay with never returning to the US.

Or giving up U.S. citizenship. The U.S. has a list which is viewable to the public like a shame list of people who have given up their U.S. passport.

I have a relative who’s a major in the AF and did ROTC. He did several tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and goes to the UAE all the time. The housing sucks as well as the healthcare. He's missed a good chunk of his kids lives and he still have student debt. They don’t just pay it off.
